Bottom Topography Of Atlantic Ocean

Ocean bottom topography is also known as bathymetry (measurement of the depth of of large bodies of water). The primary principle being invoked in the satellite altimetric mapping of ocean bottom topography is that the surface of the ocean reflects the shape of the ocean floor and it is a matter of teasing this information out of the satellite altimeter record (sandwell and smith, 1995).
